* Original Issue

The original problem was transitioning from the military to civilian life. The problem specifically is how we can produce a change for the overall transition of a veteran to the civilian world. This directed me to the initial root of the problem that veterans do not have adequate resources. Especially once they have exited the military and must translate their military occupation specialties into common civilian jobs. Vet Transition is an organization who aims to provide transitions skills to retiring, separating, and transitioning military personnel. The creation of the company made me realize the void within many communities. Vet Transition’s mission statement is “To aid our nations defenders by providing the essential elements needed to flourish in the civilian world effectively”. This outlook gave me the opportunity to investigate the issue thoroughly and produce ideas in which will better the lives of many veterans and help our economy as a whole.

Initial Solution

The how can and how too questions filled my head with the overall neglect I felt after separating and not knowing how to succeed in the civilian world. This void made me join a different branch of military after only 6 months. Then the process started all over again when my separation time came again. The initial solution for me was inadequate and made me reach out and help others who are facing the same situation. The military currently holds a three day program which teaches you briefly on the different benefits you may qualify once you are out of the military. However they neglect to tell you the basics of how to succeed and better your future without depending on government aid in which only those who disabled or retiring qualify for.
