Medline(n.d.) defines “A overhead serving of volleyball is also known as the volley pass, overhand pass, chest pass or face pass.” It is the most used and most accurate pass in volleyball. There many conditions that can damage a shoulder by a repetitive use, but the most common in volleyball players is rotator cuff tendonitis. The rotator cuff muscle are highly important because they move the shoulder. "These muscles can be irritated or fatigued with overuse"(Crosssey, Han, Popchak, William, 2008, p.10). Tendonitis is “when the tendons swell and causes the shoulder movements to be more limited"(Max, 2004, p.120).

There are some physical examination that shows the tenderness of the shoulder. According to Gale Encyclopedia of Medicine(2002), There are some diagnoses that can be done in order to detect if there is tendonitis. One of this can be ultrasound, which creates a image of the shoulder joint. As well as an MRI, this shows the swelling of the affected area (p.2920-21).

According to Morrison, “The early goals of rehabilitation for rotator cuff syndrome are to lower the pain, inflammation and to reduce the stress on the irritated tendon”(25 Sep. 2008). There are also cold treatments that helps to relieve stress to the irritated tissue(Morrison, 2008, p.285-293). Changes would need to be done to the shoulder (“Medline”,n.d.,p.4). For example, movements that people constantly make or position that the person is prolong for a long period.
