Summarize, in 200 to 300 words, the four external environmental factors and six internal environmental factors that help organizations achieve optimal function.

Include in your response the factors that you feel are most important to the success of a human service organization.

The four external environmental factors which aid in achieving an organizations optimal function are economic factors which include funding sources, noncash revenues, clients or consumers, suppliers, and competitors. The second external factor is sociological as in being aware of the community to be served. The third external environmental factor is political/professional consecutively meaning laws and regulations, and the attitudes of a community. Finally-- technological factors. These include equipment as well as the development of new approaches in the field.

The six internal environmental factors which help organizations achieve optimal function are to begin with, are organizational purpose, mission, and philosophy, for example an organizations mission statement which would include clearly and concisely the ultimate purpose of the organization. The next of the six internal factors is organizational planning in terms of planning for the goals of the organization. Thirdly, there is organizational operations which are the requirement to regularly review products and services which the organization has to offer. Fourth on the list of internal environmental factors is human resources which is the functioning of supervision and management of employees and volunteers within an organization. The fifth internal factor is technological resources. Technological resources according to the reading are equipment and expertise needed to carry out the
