In today’s society there are more and more people joining the fight to give homosexuals the same rights and privileges as heterosexuals. Even though there are more people joining the cause for homosexuals rights to marry and have benefits and privileges the same as heterosexuals, it is still not enough to win over the government and opponents. Do you think that all people are created equal, and should all share the same rights regardless of their sexuality?

Gay marriage is illegal in most states, but there are reasoned and clear legal arguments for it. Gay people are people too and deserve the same rights and treatment as a straight person and the Declaration of Independence states that everyone is created equal.

Gay marriage is illegal in most states, but there are reasoned and clear legal arguments for it. Masci (2008) states that there are supporters of same-sex marriage and they agree that gay and lesbian couples should be fairly treated regardless of their sexuality. They should also be allowed to marry like heterosexual couples (para. 3).

Masci (2008) also notes that even though supporters want to uphold the principle of equal treatment and non discrimination, they also say that there are practical reasons behind the fight for marriage equity (para. 3). Masci (2008) also points out there are homosexual couples that have been with each other for years that find themselves without the basic rights and privileges that are enjoyed by heterosexual couples who legally marry. Some of those privileges and rights are sharing health and pension benefits to hospital visitation rights amongst other rights, privileges, and benefits.

There are some states where gay marriage is legal. Those five states are Vermont, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Iowa. So the homosexual couples in those states can enjoy the same benefits as...
