Creative process and problem solving

The challenge presented is a computer malfunction. The problem with this is that it prevents me from completing my work on time. There are many possible reasons for the malfunction: it can be overload, out of date, deleted vital programs in error.

In order to solve this problem, one idea would be to test the computer to make sure that is connected properly to the right outlets. And continue to troubleshoot until problem is found. Since it may take time to troubleshoot the computer then a person should seek for an alternate computer to complete the work on time.

The best way to use techniques to develop curiosity is to ask many questions and possibilities. Questions that demand information—such as “Why”? “Who?” “What?” “When?” and “Where?” (Ruggiero,2009) are important questions to ask at this stage. For example, why is it important to turn the work on time? What are the consequences if a solution is not found to the malfunction? What sources do I have available to find repair to the computer malfunction? Who has the expertise? And when should I look for such repair? Many times the answers to a problem are more obvious than I may expect, keeping a calm demeanor will help diffuse a potential lack of ideas in order to find a viable solution.

Since solving a problem means “deciding what action will change the situation for the

best” (Ruggiero,2009), I will identify this as a problem not an issue. A problem is when

“the most effective form in expressing problems is the “How can . . . ?” form”

(Ruggiero,2009). Various ways to express the problem are: How can I avoid a malfunction? How can a computer be more predictable? How can a computer become more reliable? How can computer developers be more precise in their designing of computers? How can I spot a problem with a computer before it happens? How can deadlines for work due be more flexible...
