Building strong team

Building a great team is a difficult undertaking. Once you build a great team that works well together, then the team could achieve its team objectives above and beyond anybodies expectations. There are five stages of team developments such as forming, storming, norming, performing and adjourning stages. Forming is the initial entering of group members; Storming is a period of high em0tion and tension among the team members; Norming is the initial integrations of the team; Performing is a period of total integration of the team and finally adjourning stage is completion period of the team final goals. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the circumstances around “the forgotten group member” case study where team members are assigned works to complete the projects. This paper will discuss each stages of the team development and determine the stage for the team. In addition, this paper will analyze the team issues and performance and at the end will reach at some recommendations on how to improve the team performance.

In the first stage of team development which is forming stage, each team members would do the introduction and discuss the expected contributions of each member as well as the individual member needs. During this stage, the team members would decide acceptable behaviors for the team members to work together and define the team rules. The case study discussed that the team had their first meeting and elected their coordinator which was Christine. But the case study didn’t include any more details as far as the team rules and acceptable behavior with in the team members.
