Why Ethical Leadership and Governance Matter Today

The Procter & Gamble Company

Abstract

We may ask; “Why is ethical leadership and commitment to good governance so important in a company today?” Legendary leaders from around the world have started their careers with Procter & Gamble. It is through their leadership practice they experienced while employed with Procter & Gamble that they learned to lead by purpose and guide by values. This is what has led Procter & Gamble to be such a successful company for so many years.

Procter & Gamble is a good example of a company that has made management of records and information a governance issue. If you integrate these two fundamental practices in your business you are well on your way to running a successful endeavor.

As I was researching this company online and through reading a book on their leadership style, I have these questions:

1. What could I take away from this paper and apply to my leadership style?

2. If I were to change jobs, would Procter & Gamble be a company I could work for?

3. Why is Procter & Gamble such a successful company?

It is my conclusion that I am able to say yes, I could work for this company. If I take the core values and apply them to my leadership style with my current employment maybe I could be half the leader these others are. I have been able to enlighten myself on why Procter & Gamble has been so successful and able to provide so many different products not only in the United States but worldwide.
