I chose to do my semester project over two very good crime/thriller/drama movies. The first movie I watched was the Godfather. This movie was released in March 24, 1972. The Godfather was directed by Francis Ford Coppola and it included stars like Al Pacino, Marlon Brando, James Caan, and Robert Duvall. This movie is about an Italian family who runs a crime organization. When the Vito Corleone, or the Godfather as he is called, is shot, but not killed by another Italian family, the war between the family’s begins. The Corleone family decides to send one of the sons, Michael, to kill two guys that were responsible for his father getting shot. After Michael goes to Italy to lay low. While he is in Italy his brother, Sonny, is killed by the same family. After this the Godfather calls all the families together and calls a truce. With this happening, Michael

comes home and in turn takes charge of the family business. The Godfather dies soon after this. Michael then precedes to take the family business to an all new level, by making his family better than all the rest.

The movie I watched next was released about 37 years later. The name of the movie was American Gangster. Unlike the Godfather this movie was based on a true story. American Gangster was released November 2, 2007 by director Ridley Scott. It included stars such as Denzel Washington, Russell Crowe, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Josh Brolin. He gets connections from a military leader to import what would be the nations highest grade heroin. He brings all of his family in to help him, using them to run businesses which launder his money and keep the cops off track. Lucas revolutionized drug dealing because he was selling a better product at a smaller price. Lucas the became unbelievably rich. Finally a cop,...
