Introduction

Rice is a second worldwide rank of commodity production after corn that used by many countries as raw material or consumed directly. This commodity for some regions is the main food for its population as seen in many Latin America. China, India, Brazil and Eastern countries such as Thailand is the good examples consisting of majority of people consuming rice as the staple food. The products that use rice as the main ingredient are popular among Asian people as well. This research is conducted to study about this interesting commodity. The examples of the real events and data will be used to demonstrate this topic. This research will be divided into five sub- topics which are the features of rice, the factors that determine demand and supply, where is rice likely to be produced and consumed , the trend of price over the past 2- 5 years ,and reused or recycled of rice.

The features of rice

There are many kinds of rice that are traded in current market. Each type has its own characteristic and also unique texture. For example, Jasmine rice which is the main type exported by Thailand has the jasmine fragrant and a soft texture. Other examples are white rice, brown rice, Glutino rice, Short-grained rice and red rice. However, all types of rice mentioned above provide the similar main nutrition which is carbohydrate and fiber. Especially, the red rice has the high amount of fiber which betters the digestion system for human.
