Most businesses organizational structures are based on various areas of functionality such as, Human Resources, Marketing, Customer service, Finance, and Operations. Companies build departments around these functions and match up the job responsibilities according to the person’s job title and experience. A person’s skill and expertise in any one of these areas are what a business looks for when establishing a business. This paper will look at two of these functions and explore their importance to the business achieving their goals and being successful at it. As we have learned the very first thing to do in establishing a business is planning, and once the business has been opened then it becomes necessary to get the right employees to help sell the product thus the first functionality
Human Resources: No matter the product without the right staff a business will not do well. The functionality of the human resources or personnel department as it was once known is responsible for overseeing the hiring and training of employees to do their jobs properly (Suttle, Chron.com). The human resource department is not only responsible for training incoming employees in the policy and procedures of the business but they are also responsible for training them how to communicate effectively with their managers and managers with their employees. They also direct and instruct in developing teamwork skills among all employees of the business. This is done to determine if the incoming employee’s agenda lines up with the mission and vision statement of the business. Human resources is no easy task and it is made even more difficult by the need for programs that are appropriate (Sincoff, Owen 2004).
