Technology’s Role in Education

With technology evolving around us, there are new and convenient ways of learning. Having an education it should help one feel accomplished while achieving goals to better themselves when it comes to the job market. Overall we all must take advantage of pursuing education in one form of another, I choose online education. Online education has its advantages as well as disadvantages.

Online education is very convenient to one who is a full time employee. It gives employees an opportunity to go school and get that education that might just help them to excel and move to the next level in their careers. Having education solely online limits one. There are some courses that cannot be taught online due to the nature of the course, for example, Chemistry where there are labs hours required one may be able to split to do half online and half classroom to meet the requirements.

Being self-paced is another great advantage to online education, being able to log on to classes any day at your own convenience without worry about many deadlines or restrictions as there is in a traditional class setting. Classes such as mathematics can be challenging because of the lack of instructor based teaching. Taking an online course, there has to be some knowledge about the subject taught and an understanding of what’s required to be successful.

I prefer online education at this time due to my hectic daily schedule. I’m a single parent, employee with two jobs, and perusing my dream of furthering my education. I feel that there are always things one can do to improve in all areas in life. There are many challenges faced with online education, but the benefits for me outweigh the disadvantages.
