This article has used both primary and secondary research, such as from the Australian Bureau Of Statistics, 2008. Other sources were used by the author from various books, articles and research which the author used as supporting documents to further enhance and support his argument about how most employers tend to have a stereotyped perception on older workers. Sample sizes of different forms of data collection were used in the author’s article which might be flawed and prove to be inaccurate. It is generally hard to ascertain or conclude a hypothesis as data surveyed are not always in quantitative research form, or sample size would prove to be too small to hardly justify any point.

The author had generally concluded that manager’s assessment of older workers were most of the time comparatively negative as compared to the younger workers, even though the former had workplace appraisals and that the cause of these were employer attitudes. Though through other various kinds of quantitative data collected, proved otherwise. The author had significantly contributed different thought processes behind each of his points gathered. He further elaborates on potential consequences should employers not change their mindset on older workers. An example would be, a down sloping Australian economy, which would be heavily reliant on older workers in and whereby the median could possibly hit 45.2 by 2050 based on the Australian Bureau Of Statistics. He emphasizes the need for current and potential employers to change their attitudes in order to suit Australia’s labour needs in the future.
