If you are looking to taste the rainbow in Japan you are in for a huge disappointment. You will not find Skittles in Japan.

Product Description

Skittles is a brand of fruit-flavored sweets, currently produced and marketed by the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company, a division of Mars, Inc. They have hard sugar shells which carry the letter S. The inside is mainly sugar, corn syrup, and hydrogenated palm kernel oil along with fruit juice, citric acid, and natural and artificial flavors. The confectionery has been sold in a variety of flavor collections, such as Tropical and Wild Berry.

Skittles bite size candies were first introduced in the United States in 1974, made by a company in England. In 1982, production of Skittles bite size candies began in the United States.

Each candy starts as a chewy center. Then, in an eight-hour-long process, the centers are tumbled and coated with a flavored sugar shell in a process called “panning”. They are then polished and blended, and a special machine designed to preserve the sugar shells prints the “s” on each Skittles bite size candy before packaging.

In 2004, the popular Skittles brand extended the brand with the release of Skittles bubble gum, which has a crunchy candy shell and a fruit-flavored, soft bubble gum center. The Skittles bubble gum pieces look and taste like Skittles bite size candies and come in the five Skittles bite size candies original fruit flavors: strawberry, orange, lemon, lime, and grape all in one flip-top box.

Skittles bite size candies smoothie mix rolled out in 2005, featuring smooth fruit combinations such as orange mango and peach pear.
