Executive Summary

For this project, we were asked to create an account at the website www.marketwatch.com and play a virtual stock exchange game, taking part in active trading and recording of stock price information. Overall 76 students took part in this game and I was ranked 29th at the end of this game. I have documented the transactions and performances on a weekly basis, starting from Week 1 (28th January) to Week 11 (19th April). Explanations behind some of my transactions have been given. From this game, I have witnessed personally that stock prices are indeed highly unpredictable and random, that the market indeed follows a random walk. At the end I have displayed on the last 3-months’performance data of my portfolio for the stocks I had held on till the end of the game and also evaluated some of the stocks that I had in my portfolio. This game has given me an insight of how the stock market works and I have also understood the implications of some of the concepts that I have learned in the course. I have also attached ten portfolios that I have recorded throughout the game.
