M &M PROJECT

I. INTRODUCTION:

The M & M Project is an experiment performed by the Math 300 class. The main purpose of this project is to statically calculate data that was compiled by each student. Each student was to separate and count each color per bag and post that information on a spreadsheet and submit to the Professor to incorporate into a spreadsheet that has been consolidated. From this information we were tasked with performing a series of calculations.

II. Part 1:

It was during this stage that each student was to purchase three bags of M & M with each bag weighting 1.69 ounces per bag. We were then tasked with separating each color in the bag, counting the colors and then recording the information in the excel spread sheet. Counting three bags per-person the completed spread sheet would ultimately have more than 60 bags that would be used in the overall statically project.

III. Part 2.

It was in this stage that the spread sheet which included the all of the samples of candies and their colors that we were to performed the task of calculating the proportions of each color. The means, medium and the mode of the project. Using this information, we were all instructed to create a Histogram for each color identifying and calculating the total proportions as well as the standard deviation of the project.

IV. Part 3.

The third part of this project was the Level of Confidence and the class was to determine the confidence interval of the proportion for each indiviual color within the project. In this section there was a cumulative percentage was determined for each color within the project. It was found that within this project the total proportion of all colors fell within the 95 percentile confidence level.

V. Part 4.

It was in this stage that the class was tasked with testing claims for the percentage of candy color in each...
