Introduction

An administrative manager is an individual tasked with the responsibility of directing activities of subordinate staff in the coordination and management of a range of administrative systems. The work of administrative manager varies with different employing firms or organizations. The work further requires knowledge of policies, practices and regulations of administrative and departmental programs that touch on personnel and supervision. In many large firms the administrative manager’s roles are specified unlike in small organizations where they carry out all a greater part of the management commitments or duties.

Personnel Productivity

Personnel management is a core goal of any administrative manager. The manager communicates job expectations and monitors the personnel productivity and communicates from time to time to the larger management feedback on personnel performance. He also coordinates the recruitment, hiring and training of the staff so as to maintain a good work environment that enhances employee personal growth opportunities.

Financial Management

The administrative manager also aids in the management of an organization’s finances. The budgeting process, for instance, requires the input of an administrative manager in order to factor in administrative costs. The budget preparation and projections help in determination of cost estimates and necessary funding for assigned area budgets. The manager also compiles financial reports that are key for the organization in the process of establishing financial outlays.
