Cold War and Communism

After watching the Duck and Cover video I felt very feared and stressed out due to anxiety. I can only imagine how it must have been to actually live like that back then. It seemed like it was very nerve wracking to have to walk around be completely aware of what was going on around you at all times just in case you missed that first sign that a nuclear bomb was about to blow. If I was in that time, I would have rather to have the warning sirens in order to get myself protected in time. I am sure that was not always a possibility though due to the uncertainty of when they were to go off.

In many ways the threat of the nuclear war is very similar to how we live in the fear and threat of terrorism. You never know if and when or even where can strike. It is constant fear of what could happen or when. The only real difference is the person standing right next to you could be strapped with a bomb and you would never know it. For example the most recent act of terrorism in Boston, those young men had backpacks on with regular clothes. They never really gave indication that they had a bomb within their backpacks at all. They were also shoulder to shoulder with the crowd of people.

Both of these situations can be very devastating to our country. They can both leave people with major injuries or even worse – death. One of the situations is not better than the other due to the nature of destruction that is possible. Unfortunately, there is no real way to detect when these situations will happen. There is not a weather forecast for it and most times like I stated there is no real indications of the who, what, where, when and how’s of either situation.
