Art Scavenger Hunt

Unit 4: Assignment – Architecture & Design Scavenger Hunt

Directions:

1. Read Chapters’ 15 & 16; also refer to Chapters’ 17-21.

2. Complete the Scavenger Hunt Worksheet, below. Search in your neighborhood or nearby city (residences, banks, schools, parks, restaurants, civic buildings…), on your college or university campus, and online to find appropriate art forms.

3. Bring course textbook, a recording device to jot down notes (paper/pen, I-Pad, phone...), and a digital camera or camera phone to take photographs of a minimum of 1 item that you find in person.

4. Include digital images, for all examples, with completed assignment. Do not use an example more than once. Be certain to inform instructor which art form you found in person, as well as pertinent identification of the art form (artist/culture, title, date, media, location, dimensions)

5. Examples featured in the course textbook are not accepted for this assignment.

6. Don’t plagiarize; include citations (activated URL Address) for items that you find online!

7. Refer to assignment rubric prior to submission.

1. Identify Architectural & Design Elements utilized to create diverse art forms.

2. Identify and visually recognize characteristics of famous architectural and design styles.

3. Locate and identify original art forms, featured in your neighborhood, representing diverse architectural and design media/techniques, and styles.
