RE: Management Behavior

As you all know InterClean, Inc. has acquired one of our major competitors, EnviroTech and with their additional expertise and InterClean’s resources, we fully expect to reach our sales goals for the next year. This brings me to a few items I would like to address. First, the impact your behavior can have on the productivity of your workers. Second, your management actions as it relates to employment laws. Last, our diversity practices, as a company, within the work environment.

In the upcoming months your sales staff will begin intensive solution-based selling training to fit in with the company’s new direction of all-inclusive service. You all must be aware of the impact your behavior has on the productivity of your subordinates as we move forward to achieve our sales goals. Change is an uncomfortable time for employees, and productivity drops as employees tend to worry about changes and how it will affect him or her. Our future as a prosperous company is in your hands as managers. If our employees are unhappy in their positions and are not committed to our company they tend to quit or place less importance on customer satisfaction. I need each of you to lead by example as we go forward through this transition. If your subordinates observe you remaining positive, they will in turn, conform to yours, and the company’s expectations. “Results show that the value the firm placed on human resources and how the organization rewarded people were significantly related to the probability of survival” (Cascio, 2005, p. 42). In order to encourage positivity, continue to reward high-performers, and coach and motivate the average.

As we continue the merger with EnviroTech, and we acquire the EnviroTech sales...
