When I was six, there were two types of books in my closet, each on a different side. On one side were books filled with colorful depictions of dinosaurs, my favorites being the ones illustrating dinosaur anatomy. The other side of my closet contained books about the human body.

Although my interest in dinosaurs has long since faded, I’m still fascinated with the human body and medicine in general. It would be a dream come true to have a medical career- I could work with the subject that most fascinates me all day! I’m currently part of HOSA, Health Occupations Students of America, and doing a team competition this year. However, I’m not sure which specialty I want to go into, and I hope that working in a hospital will give me some background information on working in the medical field.

I love helping people- I am an active member of LEO club, received a Bronze Award in Girl Scouts, and babysit/ walk my neighbors’ dogs. In LEO club, I frequently volunteer at children’s festivals; I love to see their cute, innocent faces as they have fun. I’ve also to run booths, set up equipment, and things to that nature- being helpful gives me a sense of bliss like no other. Babysitting is also very enjoyable to me: young children are just so adorable, and never cease to make me smile! However, it’s not just children I like helping; for my Girl Scout troop’s Bronze award, we cooked for the local fire station- it overjoyed me to be able to help such courageous and vital members of our community. Additionally, back when I lived in Virginia, I volunteered to shovel my elderly neighbors’ driveways every winter, and mow their lawn every summer. The satisfaction of helping them was payment enough. Finally, I’m very reliable and punctual. At school, I’m known for being very organized and on top of my schoolwork, and perfect attendance is my norm.
