EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The objective of this report is to assist Nokia Corporation in overcoming market threats and once more reach the top level of sales and market share through a detailed internal and external analysis to the current market situation of Nokia Corporation. Nokia Corporation is one of the most recognized brand names globally, specializing in mobile phone products and services. In 1984, the company made one of the world's first transportable phones, named Mobira Talkman, which was the first step towards cell phones of today (Hay, 2009). Though, the company has suffered years from the loss in the cell-phone market due to the struggle with its competitors. This report identified current problems of the corporation with the strategic theories in culture, communication and innovation. The corporation is currently experiencing a weak company structure with a diversified labor pool and inefficient communication channels, which lead to communication difficulties between employees and employers. Moreover, Nokia is wasting large amounts of money in development and research, as it focuses heavily on developing Seban system. To achieve the objective of creating more revenue and sales, firstly, Nokia Corporation has to restructure its company’s structure by diversifying its operation categories and change informal decision style in management. Secondly, Nokia should create a fresh image that presents the company as high class with latest technology in order to attract consumer attention. Thirdly, to enhance better communication between managements and employees, Nokia should restructure its present corporate structure into a more consistent, functional, and efficient pattern.
