This article stated the history of cosmetic surgery from the 1800s to the mid-1900s, highlighting various surgeons practicing early cosmetic surgery with their own findings. The article showed the research of the surgeons and the result of each surgery they did. This proves that individuals of that time seek external beautification apart from reconstructive purposes. All of the surgeons findings ultimately led to modern cosmetic surgery.

In this journal article, the author analysed the psychosocial and psychological outcomes for individuals who undergone cosmetic surgery. Upon undergoing the knife, individuals who were highly satisfied with the outcome did not prove that their psychological state changed. Several negative outcomes and the predictors of poor outcomes of cosmetic surgery were shown in the research of the article. Some examples of negative outcomes are depression, anxiety issues or personality disorder. Castle also briefly discussed about individuals who have a positive outcome after cosmetic surgery and suggested surgeons to have better systems in placed to identify patients who have a high risk of a negative psychosocial and psychological outcomes.
