Florida Citizens Bank (FCB) is considering an international extension into Kava, a South Pacific paradise island. The President of the bank, Chris Morales, has a mission to extend the bank’s borders because of his reputation to turn disasters into opportunities, his moral drive to give back to the island that needs economic recovery, and his conviction to help Kava establish a culture on the island for business. Before any action begins, Florida Citizens Bank must provide the rationale and plan for the implementation. Afterwards, FCB must determine the factors affecting the decision, assess the resources and actions, and evaluate the ethical implications from the stakeholders’ perspectives for proposed solutions.

Rationale and Plan for Implementation of Solution

The initial incentive for implementing a proposed solution involves a rationale and plan. Without a reason and a goal, no company has a purpose for change. At FCB, the challenges of opening a bank thousands of miles away must have a purpose. The following discussion briefly describes the rationale and plan that can benefit both the bank and the people of Kava. These provide incentive for implementing a solution.

The first rationale for the bank’s presence involves an economic reciprocal benefit of both countries. The local government of Kava supports the plan because FCB has management skills and organizational structure that can facilitate the island. By developing needed skills in marketing, finance, purchasing, human resources, and strategic planning, Kava has much to gain. Likewise, the United States finds a rationale in the partnership because the island is rich in natural resources such as coffee, cocoa, bananas, and spices.
