In Habits that Inhibit thinking for the first habit I chose is Face Saving. Meaning of Face Saving is a natural tendency arising from our ego. The situation that happened to me was when I was in High School I had gone shopping with a few of my friends. We were all shopping for a Mother’s Day gift for our mothers. We had decided that a glass or porcelain figurine would make a great gift. So there we were looking at each one carefully we just had to find the perfect one that our Mothers would love. While we were looking at breakable items being very careful to place them back on the shelf so that we wouldn’t drop and break any. I think we spend a good 45minuets to maybe more than an hour or longer. But anyway back to the point of what I was writing about. I made sure that each item was put back on the shelf in its place. But there was one item that I thought was on the shelf and it fell and broke and I without thinking stated that it wasn’t me I didn’t drop it. Couldn’t be my fault I was being very careful. Someone else must have knocked it off the shelf. I left the store with no gift and I never set foot in that store again.

The second habit that I chose is Resistance to change. The definition that the book gives is the tendency to reject new ideas and new ways of seeing or doing without examining them fairly. This is one habit that has happened more than once, since we all are creators of habit and to change is hard to do. The one strongest resistance to change is when I first started work in the medical field I learned to do procedures a certain way and then a few years later updates were made and I felt that the old way was the best and the new way would never work. I resisted the change for some time. Then I talked to a mentor that explained to me that change was good. Think of all the advancements in medicine and what would happen if we all resisted change, there would be no updates made in medicine. In hearing this I realized how resisting change...
