Stem Cell Research

Before we talk about stem cells, let's visualize for a moment what a stem cell is. It's a blob, to be sure, a cellular structure under the microscope very much the same like any other cell in your body, but somehow, it's different, if you view a picture of it you'll realize how very simple it is; there is no somatic body or axon, no fibrous branches or tail, it has no rigidity like skin cells or the vibrant colors of sexual cells, it's quite simple indeed, as if it was empty, like a canvas. Stem cells, derived from a human embryo, are one of the craziest things to be discovered in human history, the most basic building block of a human begins in the embryonic stages of birth and that's exactly where scientists started looking for it and found it, the beginning. The magic of stem cells is their ability to become pluripotent and turn into any other type of tissue in the body with no exclusions, not limited to repair or temporary growth, a cellular growth that begins anew and without waste or pause. It is by far the most powerfully creative cell known to man and offers humankind unimaginable benefits of reconstruction, manipulation and quite definitely, reconfiguration.

However, embryonic stem cells need to be extracted from embryos, that is, the culmination and combination of male and female sexual cells; in other words, stem cells need to be extracted from one of the most sacred processes of human biology, procreation. What was once a dedicated process to producing a baby is now being tampered with for the scientific research of one of the most powerful gifts given to a new life. This is where the moral battleground arises; mothers and fathers, families, pro-life citizens against scientists, doctors, researchers and victims of incurable diseases. The idea of life and its concepts are now being confronted and many are scared that people may abuse the creative powers of stem cells, others describe it as “playing as God.” The...
