The case of ABC Inc.

As a new recruiter for ABC Inc. my first assignment to hire new recruits for Monica Carrolls was fairly easy. I did not realize my next assignment with the 15 new recruits I hired would be so difficult or frustrating. I am working on a plan of action that will help solve my problems and keep these problems from reoccurring. Since I am a new employee I will need to include my supervisor on my ideas for organizing an orientation program and coming up with a written policy for orientation.

Within the first six months of my employment with ABC Inc. I successfully recruited and employed 15 new employees for Monica Carrolls. It was my responsibility to schedule an orientation with these new employees. I had scheduled an orientation for the new employees for June 15th in order for them to start working in July. On May 15th Monica contacted me to verify everything would be set up for June 15th. I reassured her that they would be. This included the new employees training schedule, manuals, policy booklets, physicals, and drug test.

After Memorial Day, while reviewing the new trainee file to finalize my preparation for the orientation, I realized many of the applications were incomplete. None of the drug screenings or physicals had been done. I also found the orientation manuals had missing pages and there were only three of them. All in the same day, I found out the conference room I had envisioned of using was booked for the whole month of June. I couldn’t imagine what I was going to do to overcome all these issues.

There are many problems I have to face that could have been prevented. The first problem is planning. I didn’t check to make sure the conference room would be available for use on June 15th.
