Organizational Psychology

Organizational Psychology takes on different roles and responsibilities as organizations grow globally. Organizational psychologists provide an advantage to organizations large and small and the success of the organization. Organizational psychologists present and offer new ideas for improvement through research for organizations. One significant element is understanding employee’s behavior within the organization. An employee’s behavior has a direct impact on other employees and the organization. Employees may not view their behavior as negative or harmful until it affects them as an individual. The purpose of writing this paper is to define organizational psychology, explain the role that research and statistics play, and describe how organizational psychology can be used in organizations.

Definition of Organizational Psychology

Organizational psychology is defined as “organizational psychology is concerned with analyzing the external and internal system dynamics that maximize performance excellence of individual and work groups in an organization” (Rutgers, 2013, para,1). Organizational psychology focus is analyzing the external and internal methods and systems that provide maximum functions of quality on an individual employee and the team group in an organization. The organizational approach of the organizational psychologist is based on theories and psychological ideas in relation to the organization to effect change. The assessments and diagnosis of the organizational psychologist will determine the recommendations and implementation for change to take effect in the organization.
