To achieve success in project planning, a team of skillful employees must be assembled. in order to build a high performance team, the role of the manager will be to recruit the members based on specific criteria within the project. Cross functional departments will be used as well as those employees known for high performance and ethics in their current roles.

The manager’s role will be to hold meetings, establish team identity, create a common sense of the purpose or a shared vision, and manage a reward system that encourages teamwork, orchestrate decision-making resolve conflicts that emerge with the team, and rejuvenate the team when energy is low (Gray & Larson, 2011).

The recruitment process involves six distinct areas, according to Gray and Larson, 2011. The recruitment process will not be the same across organizations, however; the one consistent fact in recruiting is to determine the importance of the project, and the structure that will be used. (Gray & Larson, 2011) If a project is considered complex or not clear, the manager would need to select people who possess the ability to solve problems well as well as identify the problems. When a project is detailed, complicated and not clear people with the above skills tend to be more involved and can work well with others.

Considering the length of the project, the project will need people that have possibly a long-term availability that do not have other projects he or she is working on that will interfere with his or her work on the project they have been selected for.

If the project requires a large degree of technological expertise, the manager will need to be selective in the number of people chosen that have a large amount of experience. This the text states are...
