EXPLORING THE CAREERS OF ELECTRICAL

AND COMPUTER ENGINEERING

INTRODUCTION

The process of identifying the right career for you is very difficult. I have taken this opportunity to research two different career paths of which are both rewarding and challenging. I feel that either career would be a good choice because they each offer excellent wages and career opportunities. The purpose of this report is to help the reader make an informed decision as to which career would be most suitable for them. I will examine the careers of an electrical engineer and a computer engineer, their job duties, role and responsibilities, educational requirements, salary and career outlook. Finally, after researching and considering each career, I will make a recommendation as to which career path is the most promising.

I will use statistical information from the Occupational Outlook Handbook and the Bureau of Labor Statistics to accurately describe the job duties, education, and job outlook for each profession. I will also look at different colleges and find how much it costs to finance an education in either career and how much training and education is needed to land an excellent job. I will also use...
