In the 21st century, continuous cost reduction, quality improvement, quality control and maintain productivity is necessary for organization to stay in operation. Total quality has become the most important competitive strategy to continue in business. Many organizations are aware that Total Quality Management (TQM) is the way for managing in the future.

Quality management is a key of competitive issue in today’s business world. Deliveries product and service to customer that meet the standard and purpose fit to the basic demand of customers. However, customers have increasing the want much more than the basic quality. So, the organization has realized that TQM can help them to meet customer requirement.

Total quality management (TQM) is defined as a technique which target to eliminate the wastes through the continuous and joint effort of all levels of the management with the purpose of producing better customer satisfaction. TQM will look for method to improve quality and performance which will go beyond the current or future expectation of customer. TQM will places the customer at the front line of quality decision making. The main definition of TQM is describing a management method for long-term success through the customer satisfaction.

The ways for implementing TQM come from teaching of such quality leaders such as W. Edwards Deming, Joseph M. Juran., Philip B. Crosby and Kaoru Ishikawa. Deming’s 14 points is the concept that developed by W. Edwards Deming. It is a core concept on implementing TQM and is a set of management practices to help the companies increase quality and productivity.

Food and beverage is an important industry that must realize the consumers around the world are seeking safety and reliability.
