Company back ground - Zara

Zara is a direct subsidiary of Inditex who is one of the world’s largest fashion retailers, enjoying shoppers at its eight stores format shaving 5,527 stores in 82 countries. The Inditex Group has more than 100 companies operating in textile design, manufacturing and distribution. The innovation and flexibility are key success factors which led the Inditex be one of the biggest fashion retailers in the world. The approach of fashion–creativity, quality design and rapid turnaround to face the changing market demands has helped Zara to expand internationally at a rapid pace and has created very good public response to product lines. Zara stores are located in more than 400 cities in Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa. (1)

History

The first Zara store was opened at Central Street in downtown in 1975 by the founder of Zara, Amancio Ortega, the low-priced lookalike products of popular, higher-end clothing fashions was initially available at Coruña, Galicia, Spain. The store was a tremendous success, and Ortega began opening more Zara stores throughout Spain. Ortega started changing the design, manufacturing, and distribution process to reduce lead times and react to new trends in a quicker way during the 1980s.With the use of information technologies and use of group designers instead of individual designers in 1980 the company started expanding to international markets.
