Organizational Structure

Patton-Fuller Community Hospital uses a highly developed structure to organize and update information to serve the hospital’s needs. The organization of the network is actually dispersed over a large area, the entirety of the hospital grounds, but interconnected as if to seem like it is all in one central area for information to be accessed. This organizational structure also has the ability to connect with satellite offices and keep communication constant for all parties. Group programs and email assist in the interconnection of all hospital staff. Group programs are easily broken down into three groups: communications tools, conferencing tools, and collaboration tools. Communications tools such as email and fax can be used to update a specialist when a patient is sent for an evaluation or for a referral. Conferencing tools such as voice and video conferencing, through either computer or telephone, can allow for meetings when members are out of town or responding to different calls. Collaboration tools like calendars and project management updates can be used to keep teams together and the hospital running easily.

Patton-Fuller Community Hospital uses a network consisting of two segments, assisted by a bridge, to transmit data between departments, the internet, and their internal storage. The first segment houses all of the administrative and IT functions, as well as the internal storage. The backbone of this network is known 1000 Base-T or Gigabit over copper wire. All of the connections on this part of the network are done with CAT 6 cabling, and transmitting the aforementioned 1000 Base-T.
