Bettering Our Country by Spanking Our Children

The United States would be a better country if more parents would spank their children.

The America of today is a much different place than that of my grandmother’s time. When it stopped being acceptable for parents to spank their children it resulted in today’s generations lacking the proper respect for rules or for those in authorative positions, increase in crime, violence in schools and among peers. After all, if someone fails to learn at an early age that actions have consequences, everything and anything becomes acceptable.

Today, there are so many times when the news reports a child harmed themselves or has taken a gun to school and harmed others because another child bullied them. Too many times to count there are reports of the elderly or women and children being the targets of heinous crimes. Thirty years ago this type of thing would have been basically unheard of, because children having learned at an early age that there were acceptable behaviors and anything outside of those behaviors would be dealt with by a spanking. Those early childhood lessons would have been the start of understanding that all unacceptable behaviors have consequences and that there are some things ‘you just don’t do.’

There are those who believe that you can talk to your child and they will still understand consequences and have respect for their parents and develop into productive members of society. But when consequences are just an idea instead of an experience the results are not the same, after all “actions are worth a thousand words”. Some might even go so far as to say that spanking a child is a type of abuse. Which is an incorrect assumption. When a child is small there is no way for you to explain to them in a way they can completely understand what they have done wrong using only verbal communication, it therefore becomes necessary to back it up with a small “spank” to really drive...
