Nursing is an art and a profession. It is an art of which human dignity is elevated; and a profession geared towards quality patient care. Through nursing, the medical field is greatly supported and lives taken care of.

After years of long lectures and exhausting duty hours as well as trainings, nurses are well-equipped towards quality care and competencies required for them to function. This includes not just physical but emotional and intellectual competencies as well. Decision making is a must trained aspect which is practiced through various experiences and challenging situations.

Being in the nursing world, nurses’ hardships are like the caring hands of angels which prevail over the sufferer’s difficulties. Otherwise they will provide a comforting death through palliative care which would ease and enhance comfort and alleviate sufferings.

Together with doctors, medical technologists, nurse aides, radiologists and other healthcare provider, nurses are providing care and safety critical to each patient situation. They must make sure everything is in order especially during special procedures done in different areas such as operating rooms, wards, out-patients and clinics.

Having lots of work to do, nurses are tired after duty hours. Some parts of their expertise include taking orders from doctors, preparation of medicines, therapeutic communication, preparation and aftercare of equipment and materials ranging from those used in surgical procedures to those utilized at bedside and other areas. Having expertise in assessment skills also give nurses the ability to judge whether a patient is in an emergency situation or not.

Through the trainings, skills and experiences, they are flexible in nursing as an art, as a profession and even as a part of science. Everything is possible through the combination of both brain and heart.
