Digital Filters and Co-Simulation

Introduction

The laboratory experiment will be based on how to use digital filters in the Simulink environment using the Filter Compiler block.

Objectives

To know how to use the FIR Compiler 5.0

To know how the FDA tool work with the filter

Procedure

The matlab was open and Simulink was type at the prompt to launch the Simulink. The file lab4.mdl was saved into the c: directory, and it was opened. It was discovered that it that some initial parameters set on the input source and the output to display. The digital filter design block was drag and dropped from the DSP System Toolbox-Filtering-Filter Implementation blockset into the Simulink and then connected as shown below

The block was double clicked to access the filter design wizard and it was discovered by default it configured to generate a coefficient of 16-tap, lowpass FIR filter, the wizard was close without changing any of the values and the simulation was run, the ‘Persistence’ option was selected to ascertain that the filter circuit is working

Result (Lab Report)

1 Printout of the Scope window after step 6

Procedure2

The FDATools Properties dialogue box was opened again and it was reconfigured as the bandpass filter with the parameters as shown below, the design filter was clicked at the end of setting the parameters, the wizard was closed and the simulation was run again to verify the filter.

Result (Lab Report)

Print of the Scope window after step8

Procedure 3

The filter design block was double clicked again and the file – export was selected, the default variable was noted and export was clicked and the wizard closed.
