Confronted by low productivity, the president of Oaks International, Inc. asks a research company to study job satisfaction in the corporation. What are some of the important reasons that this research project may fail to make an adequate contribution to the solution of management problems.

Managers are decision maker, and one of their main goals at any organization is to utilize all the resources available to achieve the highest profit. However, regardless how smooth the company is rolling, managers will always confronting some dramas. For example, the President of Oaks International Inc. faces a management dilemma; the company is face up to low productivity, and requests a research company to quickly identify ways to improve production in the company.

A manager knows well his or her company weaknesses and strengths. And before calling for an outside intervention, a manager must recognize the reasons of low productivity at its organization. They are factors such as: sickness, work load and stress level, ineffective management and poor planning. Employees seek to be treated with respect by those they work with. Also, employees need to know that their supervisor’s door is always open for their concerns; blind eyes by the manager may affect employees’ ability to work effectively. The manager should also check the working conditions, if there are enough lighting, comfortable work stations, productivity tools, lunch room. If not, employees’ frame of mind may not be efficient in productivity.

Good research generates dependable data that are derived by professionally conducted practices and that can be used reliably for decision making. In contrast, poor research is carelessly planned and conducted, resulting in data that a manager can’t use to reduce his or her decision making risks (Cooper & Schindler, 2011). In the case of Oaks International, Inc. the reasons of the research project may fail are:
