Of an International Game Changer
The term globalization has a quite broad definition, but for most intents and purposes will generally refer to the movement of people, goods, and ideas across borders creating an overall increased level of interdependency among the world’s populations. It is a process that must be observed from a historical point of view; it is the culmination of human innovation and technological advance. By the dawn of the 21st century the forces of globalization had hit full steam; a previously isolated global environment gave way to an unprecedented era of international communication and trade between regional economies, societies, and cultures. The mass integration that would be brought about by the forces of globalization would extend beyond the extensive economic implications to include social, culture, and political factors. Technological advances are occurring every day, further enabling the people from around the world to connect in ways never before utilized. The advent of the internet will forever go down in history books as one of the most important discoveries of mankind; quite simply the world had become connected. The collective information of every single person with access to the internet became accessible with a few keystrokes; individuals the world over were now granted the insight to what is going beyond the confines of his or her own locality. Previously poverty stricken countries have perhaps benefited from globalization as they had attained avenues for development that were previously unavailable. Globalization has indeed brought about invaluable contributions to society however still remains as one of the most important social issues of present society due to outcry over the many negative implications as well.
