Ericsson immediately benefitted from Amazon’s resources. Amazon’s Web Services had the ability to create, build and manage a global infrastructure to Ericsson’s needs to support their business. There is a cost savings since the infrastructure will already be set and in place. They were able to send out new applications and do updates instantly at the pace of demand or business requirements. With remote access they were able to access the cloud from almost any location. The services gave Ericsson a very reliable and low cost platform with multiple data center locations in different regions. Ericsson chose AWS due to the fact that they are the most integrated provider in the cloud management platform. The Ericsson team states that having hosting centers in various regions was important for them. AWS also showed a better quality of service with solid management and a proven track record.

Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud has a complete environment, a processor, memory, and also software that is preconfigured. Scalability is offered in minutes because you can basically pay as you go. In addition to that it minimizes the time that’s required to obtain and boot new server instances, which allows you to scale capacity, as your computing requirements increase or decrease. Amazon EC2 really changes the economics of computing by letting you pay only for what you actually use. Amazon EC2 gives developers the tools to build failure resilient apps and also the ability to isolate themselves from a lot of common failure scenarios.
