My failure to pull guard properly has broken my 7 army values which have I have been trained to follow. The first value is loyalty and to me NCO's should stand by there soldiers and allow simple mistakes to past with basic corrective actions. Allowing soldiers to sink or swim on their own will help them learn from there own mistakes. Allowing soldiers to work it out themselves so they can earn the respect and loyalty of their fellow soldier's and leaders. Loyalty toward your lower enlisted will create loyalty in return. But on the flip side open criticism and being disloyal to leaders can destroy a platoons ability to accomplish the mission. A single poor decision from either a NCO or lower enlisted can turn a platoon to finger pointing and getting your fellow peers in trouble. This can be easily avoided by using good judgement and watching your sectors and pulling guard properly and admit when your wrong. A good NCO will do there best to overcome the situation whenever a mistake is made.

Duty is the second army value that I failed at my guard position and in the simplest answer duty means accomplishing all tasks to the best of your ability. Every soldier joins the military for a sense of duty and it is expected from solider. Today I failed my duty to pull guard properly. Duty is everything and making sure you get the job done and if I ever what to become a NCO I am going to have to go beyond and make sure I'm doing that right thing and giving up personal time in the pursuit of excellence. Duty is having the intestinal fortitude combined with the warrior ethos we are trained to know from basic training that keeps us on the right track and moving forward.

Respect is the most fundamental building block of trust and trust is the most important element of a team. The most basic customs and courtesies shared by every culture on this planet.
