Ethics Game – The Mysterious Roses – The Cold Feet
This paper will answer several questions evident in the simulation entitled “The
Mysterious Roses” and “The Cold Feet.” The questions that will be answered are as follows:
What were the ethical issues presented, what decision-making steps were taken to ethically address the issues, what ethical perspectives, or lenses were used to make the decisions, how did the ethical perspectives or lenses influence the decisions, and how might concepts from this simulation relate to the workplace.
What were the ethical issues presented in the simulation?
The ethical issues presented in these simulations have very different solutions. In the simulation “The Mysterious Roses,” sexual harassment was the focus. Gayle Dornier, a worker with G-Bio Sport, was receiving unsolicited deliveries of roses from an unknown source. The unknown person in question is Bill Witherspoon who claims he struck-up a friendship with Gayle and is trying to cheer her up and bolster her self-confidence. Gayle wants to speak about confidential matter and understands that I value confidentiality.
In the simulation “The Case of the Cold Feet,” another division’s work was copied by someone in the company. This resulted in false data provided on an upcoming article. Phillip Waters, Division Medical Director, gave the false data.
What decision-making steps did you take to ethically address these issues?
The decision-making steps taken to ethically address the issues involved the identification of the problem. Once the problem was identified the primary stakeholders had to be identified. After identifying the primary stakeholders the next step was to identify the duties to the stakeholders. Once the duty to the stakeholders was established it was to find the best solution.
