The Body Overtaker

"I love you," he told her, as he looked into her hazel eyes, staring beyond what the surface portrayed. Silence took its presence and manipulated his words, making the situation even more dramatic. An adrenaline rush ran through Vanessa, she hesitated for a moment trying to gather her thoughts. Seth waited patiently, starting to feel the regret that would soon overcome him. "I I I don't know what to say," Vanessa stuttered. "I think I should go," she panicked, as she gathered her belongings. She ran down the hill, trying to hold all her emotions together. Seth's heart began to skip beats, not allowing his mind to get his thoughts clear. Pain filled his heart making him look so weak and fragile. With all the light in the sky lost, and all the hope the sun ever gave, Seth knew from now on, things would never be the same.

He was all she ever had, but in reality he was all she ever needed. They met in kindergarten and had been together ever since. Besides being her neighbor, Seth was also her best friend. In elementary school when all the girls would have best friends that were girls, Vanessa was the only one whose best friend was a boy.

Later that evening when Vanessa got home, she ran to her journal and wrote eleven continuous pages of poetry. She did like Seth. She had a crush on him ever since seventh grade. But he was her best friend and she couldn't bare the risk of losing him. Over the years, after watching all her ex-boyfriends walk out of her life, she knew it was a chance she didn't want to take. Seth was the one who would wipe away her tears. But how would he be able to wipe them away, if he was the one causing them.

Valentine’s was coming up soon in just a few days and the school was organizing a dance in the hall for all the senior students and their dates. Seth appeared at Vanessa’s locker after her advanced English class. Vanessa told her friends to continue to the cafeteria without her and that she’ll see then soon....
