The Importance Of Being On Time

Being late is not an option! Whether it’s getting ready to walk behind the lines of the battlefield or in the FOB turning wrenches, being focused, mission ready and on time is heavily important to the task at hand to get the mission complete.

Other factors include being rude simply because it causes changes in schedule instead of being ahead and getting the mission complete ahead of schedule. Majority of the time its best to be on time simply because it shows that you are responsible and professional at what you do. Showing up late makes you come off as flaky and people will think that you do not care about your career. Even though showing up on time to an appointment shows responsibility and professionalism, showing up a few minutes early is even better. When you show up about 10 minutes early it not only shows that you are responsible but that you are a hard worker and trustworthy as well.

The decisions you and I make every single day do not just affect ourselves, we must remember that our actions can affect everybody around us. This statement holds most true when we speak of the importance of being on time. Military wise, tardiness is just plain unacceptable. As United States Army soldiers, we are held to a higher standard. There are many reasons why soldiers are to receive corrective action, if not UCMJ (Uniform Code Military Justice) action, for failure to be at ones place of duty at the time specified. That one late soldier is not only affecting himself, his actions may very well affect his whole unit. That one late soldier could put an adverse effect on the whole mission. The United States Army as a whole, would be a much more proficient unit, if every soldier were always on time.

Affecting the mission; we as soldiers always have a mission. You and I do not have to be down range, or really even working to have a mission. Your mission could be as easy
