Using Windows Applications as Network Tools (15 points)

First understanding the functions of CMD line, how to find it and the purpose in itself I feel is one of the most important parts for several reasons. If you have no internet as example, you will need to see if you are connected or you may even be asked from an I.T. employee to find the IP address so he can remote in if you don’t know your machine name. I feel it is also important for you to be able to understand its function and the power the CMD line has for you as an I.T. professional

Observing Extended PC Network Information (10 points)

This was and to me is always a fun exercise. Knowing the importance of the TCP/IP properties for a given network adapter is crucial in my opinion. Another reason is what if you wanted to identify and force the primary and alternate DNS for a given address static or dynamic, you are going to need to understand and find the properties. I too have often found in old Dell systems (not sure why) the adapter will disable itself and you will need to re-enable the properties.
