Family First

Before I had kids I could do whatever I wanted whenever I wanted without having to worry about anything or anyone. If I wanted to sleep in all day and not work then that’s what I did. Flash forward 4 years later from that time and that is no longer possible. I now have 2 little daughters that I must care for. They are too young to be responsible for themselves, so I have to be responsible for them, which starts with having personal responsibility.

If I’m poor financially then my kids have to suffer also. I need to be a responsible role model so that I can give them the best things in life and show them what it is to be a successful person. When my kids are older I want them to be able to go to a private school. I want to have an SUV so I can load up all their friends and take them to soccer practice. I want my daughters to have their own rooms and not have to share one as they currently do. I want a lot of things for my kids and for myself. All of this requires money. I need a better job that pays more. The best solution for that is getting a degree. Getting a degree requires a lot of work, patience and discipline. If I want the nicer things in life I need to get serious with school so I can get a better job. I can’t expect different results for doing the same things over and over again, I need to progress and start a new chapter in life (Canfield & Switzer, 2006).

Balancing out going to school full time with work, 2 kids and a boyfriend can be a challenge for anyone and it is without doubt a huge challenge for me. It may be cliché to say but I know that if I put my mind to it then it can be done. I work full time at a convalescent home; one thing that I can use to my advantage is that a lot of the times I have down periods where there is not much going on, especially at night when everyone is sleeping.
