In this course I have learned a lot about a lot of different types of medication used for different medical conditions. Before entering this course I was not aware of the amount of information within the essentials of pharmacology book over medications and their side effects. I fell that knowing this information is essential for my success as a professional.

When I graduate I plan to search for a career with in the medical field as a medical administrative assistant. I plan to use all the information that I learned from this course and use it to elevate me during my internship as an administrative assistant. Administrative professionals play an important role in the efficient delivery of healthcare services. Medical administrative assistant duties often require specialized knowledge and skills, in which I believe that this class has prepared me for tremendously.

Throughout this course I the work was tougher than I thought it would be and I didn’t understand some material. During this period I continued to review the material for the course and began to clearly understand the reason for reviewing all of the information. I have to remember what the different medications are used for and if they will be able to interact with other medications. Even though this course was loaded with a massive amount of information I still feel confident enough that I learned all different medications. As the days, weeks, and months progress I plan to keep the essentials of pharmacology book to refer back to when needed.

This course has also taught me that with taking any medication comes with contraindications and side effects.

I currently leave with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The different symptoms include diarrhea, constipation, and abdominal cramps. My physician prescribed me a medication called Lubiprostone (Amitiza), which works by increasing the amount of fluid in my intestines, making it easier for stool to pass.
