Lab Report

1. What are the business goals? (10 points)

The goal is to redesign and upgrade the multi-building campus network to accommodate current growth within the local population. There is a need to connect all buildings in the campus to one location as opposed to each building being its own network. It is imperative with the continuous growth to plan for development of a network for the new campus location to be built. This will allow the school to take advantage of the current growth by making themselves competitive with other college campuses.

2. What are the business constraints? (10 points)

Although population growth will mean increase enrollment it is still not definite exactly how many. With upgrades to the current campus the new campus location should be of the same caliber as well as have the ability to connect with the main campus. There are approved funds allotted from property taxes and bonds, however, those funds have to be spent fiscally which could mean that the network upgrade may not be completed all at once.

3. What are the technical goals? (10 points)

The first technical goals is to construct a new IT department. That department will move all dispersed servers into one location and connect all campus buildings to the new IT Administration building. New networks include controlled wireless for classroom use as well as open wireless access for common areas outside of the buildings. The current PBX telephone system is to be improved to a VoIP network. Lastly, technical goals include providing higher speed wired connections for each of the faculty offices and to provide even more data backup security there will be a centralized online backup....
