Has WIRETIME, Inc., committed any torts? If so, explain.

They (Wiretime) have conducted a global business related tort, also referred to as Defamation. In a case like this, all four instances of the defamation are present. The defamatory declaration has been created, it is also displaying to a third party, and this declaration is very familiar to one certain organization, and created damage to BUGSusa and its clients.

Scenario: WIRETIME, Inc. (Janet)

Has WIRETIME, Inc. committed any torts? If so, explain.

Scenario: WIRETIME, Inc. (Steve and Walter)

Discuss any liability BUGusa, Inc., may have for Walter’s actions.

Walter’s actions may have caused BUGusa to be held liable and subsequently charged with committing a False Imprisonment Tort. The actions that Walter took fall in line with the criteria for such. Under the time frame in which Steve was held, in the manner that he was held, was certainly questionable and more than likely do not fall under any policies and procedures that a company would have for an instance such as this and do violate the limited guideline detention rule. Although Steve was on the premises, that in itself does not give merchant privilege or shield BUGusa from Walters’ actions. Walter, along with detaining Steve for six hours also threatened him with bodily harm if he didn’t provide him with the information that he was seeking, which falls under coercion.
