Mini Case IV - Consolidated Supplies

Alternative A is to replace all the networking equipment in all the warehouses now.

Advantages: It will be good for network architecture integration.

Disadvantages: It is the most expensive and cost most time way among these three alternatives. New technologies always will be replaced by newer in the future. So replacing all the networking equipment is not a good choice. Moreover, it will have effect on infrastructure.

Alternative B is to wait update until newer networking technologies are available. Advantages: It is the easiest and fastest way to carry on. It will cost least money and have a lower technology risk.

Disadvantages: During the waiting time, old equipment may meet some problems.

Alternative C is to upgrade some of the warehouses this year, some next year, and some the year after, so that some warehouses will benefit from the expected future improvements in networking technologies.

Advantages: It will be cheaper than alternative A and the effectiveness will be better than alternative B. what is more, alternative C has less impact on the equipments than alternative A.

Disadvantages: It will not achieve full network integration. To fulfill a good work, both old and new technology must to be supported.

Recommendation: From my point of view, the consolidated supplies choose alternative C is practical. It can economize the cost for deploying technology.

Alternative A is better for a long-term development. It can impulse the company to get a high achievement.
