Respect

Respect is both given and received. They say every human no matter race, age or gender want and strive for respect. It’s always an important of part of any time in history. It’s also a very huge part of the military. It’s one of the key army values. Respect takes time some time to be earned but can be lost at any moment. Even though it can be lost it also can be giving back. There are many definitions of respect but I like to put as simple as to be fair to everyone, and to show someone that you care about their feelings and their ideas. Being respected means to honor and listen to. I think this means to be talked to right. Respect means that someone trusts you. They believe that you make the right decisions. They trust you opinion on things. They will not argue if told to do something. I think to respect someone means to conduct you properly in regards for their expectations and esteem. Honoring someone's wishes and behaving according to what they deem appropriate is showing great respect for them. I think respect also means to think of the other person, and don't do things that upset them, or that they don't like. As a Squad Leader toward your Team Leader’s I think respect means to give them their space if they ask for it, allow them to make their own decisions and show them care.

But I think if you want to talk about respect in the military you need to go back thousands of years to very first societies. It’s really shows up in ancient Egypt. People would always respect their pharos whoever they were. The Egyptians believed that the strength and unity of their country came from having a strong ruler and because all the people in Egypt thought that the Pharaohs were the sons of the gods they had respect for them. Ancient Egypt society structures were built under respect. If you were of royal blood you were respected just on that sole thing. This ancient representation of respect is still shown today.
