When it comes to setting up the strategic plan we must make sure that we have the most important core drivers in place, or that we can get them in place before we start the plan. They include clarity, this means that the whole nursing staff must know the direction that the facility plans to go, the goals that are going to be set by the facility, and what the priorities are when it comes to the facility (Gerald L. Glandon, 2010).

Then the next would be the commitment that the organization has for this plan, the nursing staff needs to understand and believe in the goals that the organization is putting into place. During the translation of the strategic plan the nursing staff must know and understand what they must do as an individual to meet the goals of the strategic plan (Sheehan, 2011).

We also have the enabling part of the strategic plan which is where the nursing staff would need to have the right tools and resources to do their jobs according to the strategic planning mode. We also have the synergy area which is where the nursing staff must be able to work together to make sure that the outcome is better than the contributions that they can make by themselves (Sheehan, 2011).

The nursing staff must also know that they will be held accountable to their actions; they must hold not only themselves accountable but their fellow employees, when it comes to the care and treatment of the patients, and their commitment to the strategic planning process (Myron D. Fottler, 2011).

When it comes to starting and setting up a strategic plan for a nursing facility there are a few things that must be done.
